Iowa State University
what is the difference between Iowa state university and University of Iowa?
I was just wondering which school is harder to get into, and what is the main differences. Which one do you think is personally better because i want to apply to one of them but do not know which one would be better to go to. I am going to visit both but would like some information on them.
The person above me is pretty much right. Iowa State is more known for its engineering, agricultural, and veterinary programs. Iowa is more known for the medical school and creative writing. And I can't speak about UNI being good for English, but I go to Iowa and it's definitely one of the better English programs. Really it just depends on what you want to study. If it's something more on the science side of things, probably Iowa State is better (except for medicine), and if it's more on the humanities side of things, then Iowa's probably better. As far as how hard they are to get in to, I imagine it's about the same difficulty considering they're both public schools in the same state. As far as the cities, I don't know Ames that well, but I think it's more rural than Iowa City and doesn't have the same kind of party scene. Iowa City is known for being a party school and there's tons of bars and house parties, and even if that's not your thing, it's pretty cultured and there's lots of arts related stuff going on. Downtown's kind of interesting too and there's a wide variety of people and it's a pretty liberal town.

Business center has computers that actually work, and work well. Nicely maintained computer room, too. Breakfast was OK, not great. Breakfast area seemed to hold a lot of people at once. Staff was very nice and were all about making sure your stay was to your satisfaction. The temp of the rooms and motel in general is kept very cold. The A/C there REALLY works.
