Olhausen not using Italian Slate anymore?
I just purchased new Olhausen Reno.I noticed after the set up was complete my slate had a tag "premium slate-Brazillian"I called the Billiard Factory salesman he told me Olhausen was no longer using Italian slate!!I feel ripped off.their site still advertises italian slate!!!That was one of the reasons why I chose them.Any recourse?Does it really make a difference?I read that in past yrs Italian was the only way to go. Like buying Italian wine and finding out they used California wine.HELP!!
Slate is rock, right? Miners can get it anywhere in the world. Thus, thinking that Italian slate is better or best in the world is not good thing to worry about.
Brunswick, Diamond, and other brand just use slate but I don't know exactly where they get the slate. The important thing is that the table remains flat. Even if you worry about warping or any kind of possible damage to the table, that would start to happen only after many years.
1) how long have you been playing?
2) have you tried other brands? did you see the difference?
I have tried to play to many lower quality table but I have notice that there is no difference in common. The table is still flat, the ball rolls fine, the rails and pockets are good.
